Donald William Bartgis, 83, of Mount Savage, MD passed away at his home on November 17, 2024.
He was born on September 12, 1941 to the late William and Pearl (Evans) Bartgis. In addition to his parents Donald was preceded in death by all three of his sisters, Nellie (Bartgis) Maranville, Norma (Bartgis) Plummer, and Waneda (Bartgis) Bridges.
Donald served his country in the U.S. Airforce at Nellis Air Force Base. He worked several careers over his life, working the distillery at the Celanese Corp, as a mechanic at Valley Trucking, and even as an orderly at Memorial Hospital.
Donald was a member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, and was an avid outdoorsmen spent time hunting, fishing, and riding his four wheeler all over Barney Engle Mountain. His entire life he was a passionate and accomplished photographer. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing anything mechanical, he owned many classic cars, and was a member of the Classy Chassis Car Club. He loved to travel with his wife, they visited Florida every year and began enjoying cruises in retirement.
Surviving is his wife Linda Louise (Conrad) Bartgis; three sister in laws, Betty O'baker, Nancy Engle, Leona Logsdon and husband Tom; many nieces and nephews; and his extended family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Charlie Riggleman officiating.
Military honors will be accorded American Legion Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
