Donald Bear Obituary
Donald Bear, 70, of Van Meter, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Pine Acres in West Des Moines.
Don was born on March 10, 1955, in Winterset, Iowa, to Frederick and Vera (Hammond) Bear. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he built his life and career close to home. Don worked for many years as a general contractor, known for his strong work ethic, practical skills, and dedication to doing a job right.
He is survived by his sons, Jeremy Bear and Tyler Bear; his brother, Roy Bear; and his sisters, Mary Gordon and Caroline Ellers.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Vera Bear, and sister, Betty Paige.
A celebration of life will be planned for the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
