Donald Berry

Donald Berry, 85, of Creston, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center in Creston. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Powers Funeral Home, jct. Hwy 34 & 25 in Creston. Pastor Cathy Nutting will officiate. Following the service, family will receive friends during a luncheon at the Orient Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Creston Nursing and Rehab Center or Greater Regional Hospice. Online condolences may be left under the obituary category of www.powersfh.com. Donald Gail Berry, son of Viola Alberta (Lloyd) Berry and Elmer Milo Berry, was born March 12, 1927 in Union Township in Adair County, Ia. He graduated from Zion High School in 1945. On March 28, 1948, Donald was united in marriage to LaRee Nellie Conard at the Hill of Zion Church in Zion. They settled and farmed in the Union Township in Adair County. While farming, Donald drove the school bus for over 40 years. He was a member of the Hill of Zion Church. Donald is survived by his wife, LaRee Berry of Creston; three daughters, Janice (Allan) James of Aubrey, Texas, Shirley Smith of Las Vegas, Nev. and Denise (Steve) Klein of Trophy Club, Texas; son, Doyle (Pam) Berry of Seward, Neb.; one sister, Shirley Ely of Robins, Ia; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Arnold "Arnie" Berry; five siblings, Loa Kline, Amy Reeves, Gilbert "Bud" Berry, Lloyd Berry and Geraldine Berry.
