Donald G. Boon

CAPE VINCENT- Donald (Bubby) G. Boon, 75, of S. Esselstyne St. passed away on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., Cape Vincent, NY.

Bubby was born in Olean, NY, on June 13th, 1950, to Donald R. and Dolores (Schunk) Boon.

Bubby was raised in Rochester, NY, where he graduated from Madison High School. After High School, Bubby became a heavy truck mechanic, working for various shops, including DeCarolis Trucking, Okar Equipment, and Leaseway. His other jobs included working at several car dealerships.

In the 80's he moved to Cape Vincent, NY where he owned and operated Don's Mobile for a few years before he went to work for the NYS DOT. Bubby retired from the DOT after 22 years of service.

Bubby loved his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He enjoyed country music, country western books and movies, and car shows. He collected Zippo lighters, hats, and pocket knives.

Bubby is survived by his four children, Christina Truax, Holley, Darren (Alyssa Stahlman) Boon, Salamanca, Rebecca Boon, Hilton, and Stephanie (Connor) Hajdasz, Black River; Grandchildren, Lindsey (Ryan) Cobb, Isaac Boon, William Boon (Molly Cooper), Jacob Truax, Aliah John, Astell Boon, and Aries Boon, Great-grandchildren, Avery Boon, Owen Cobb, and his siblings, Cherie (Ronald) Scofero, Daniel (Phyllis) Boon, Jacklyn Boon, and Donna Lee McAuley.

Bubby is predeceased by his parents, his older sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and Bob Roberts, and his granddaughter, Alexandria Kindt.

A calling hour will be held from 2-3 pm, with a memorial service at 3 pm on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, at Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., 188 W. Broadway St., Cape Vincent, NY 13618. A burial will take place in the spring, along with a celebration of life.
