Donald Churchill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Jan. 30, 2026.
Donald Churchill, born on August 30, 1957, in Houston, TX, quietly took his leave on January 20, 2026. Never married, Donald lived a very challenging and often difficult life. God in His faithfulness, kept Donald safe and surrounded him with individuals that helped him to thrive. He will be remembered by those who were blessed to know him, his shenanigans and musical genius. Donald's absence will be deeply felt and the memory of better days will forever be in our hearts. Though we don't always understand the challenges life sometimes brings, we hold fast to the one who has a plan and hope for a better tomorrow.

Surviving Donald are his loving siblings and their partners: Steven (Marian) Churchill, Ronald (Linda) Churchill, Barbara Shindler, Mary (Harold) Bowers, and Brenda (Mark) Kieselhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Maude Churchill, his brother, John Churchill, and his brother in law Kenneth Shindler. Donald's life was celebrated with a graveside service at Rising Star Cemetery in La Marque, Texas, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Donald's family invites you to share your memories and photos of him on his memorial page. Your stories, thoughts, and photographs will serve as a comforting reminder of the impact Donald had on all of our lives.

Dear My Beloved Uncle Donnie,

My heart is broken to learn of your passing, but also bittersweet
with the knowledge that you are no longer in pain. I first learned
of your debilitating illness long before anyone else knew. That's
right..some would maybe remember: I was at the River and woke
up in the middle of night crying, just a very young kid. I looked out the top bunkbed window of the cabin as the moon shone down on the slip, with a helpless, sinking feeling, in tears and said, "something is wrong with my Uncle Donnie". That is when I knew and later everyone else found out, that you had one of the worst subtypes of the disease schizophrenia. Life is so very unfair!!! Even though nothing was ever the same past that, there were so many absolutely beautiful memories of you! You were such an excellent guitar player and singer! You were a great artist and very smart. You were quiet and mild mannered but put a guitar in your hand and ya better look out! You always looked like a tall angel to me. I think maybe you were. Give grandma and Uncle John a big hug for me, okay? Till we all meet again- I love you.
