Donald Eugene Cross, 87, of Muncie (formally of North Buck Creek Pike, Mooreland, IN) passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 23, 1938, in Henry County to the late Frank E. and Neva M. (Replogle) Cross.
He was a 1956 graduate of Center High School in Selma, IN. On June 2, 1957, he married the love of his life, Alma Bruner. Donald was a lifelong farmer in Henry and Randolph counties and retired from Maxon Corp. following thirty years of service. He served on the boards of REMC and Hoosier Energy where he traveled to Washington, DC, California, and New Orleans.
Donald was a member of the Buck Creek Church of the Brethren where he served on the church board. He was a founding member of the Blountsville Lions Club. Along with his wife, Alma, they built their own house and had a huge garden each year. His hobbies include photography, computers, and traveling by car. Always thinking of others, he often plowed snow for his church as well as his neighbors. Most of all, he loved giving the grandchildren rides on the gator and delivering vegetables to the neighbors.
Donald is survived by his children, Mark (Leslie) Cross, Robin (Jim) Box, and Gary (Jay) Cross; grandchildren, Ryan Cross, Andrew (Tonya) Cross, Lindsey (Dean) Baker, Rebekah (Yanni) Stavretis, Chris (Lauren) Box, and Branden Box; great grandchildren, Bradley (Samarah), Connor, Lena, Ryan Jr., Sara, Nick, Izabella (Brock), Aalayah-Lynn, Jaiden, Karyssa, Zoey, Reese, Annabelle, and Keegan; great-great grandchildren, Olivia, Legend, and Legacy; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bryanne Box; sister, Betty Jane Carmichael, brother, Lincoln Cross, and his in-laws: Ray and Alice (Baker) Bruner.
The family would love to give a special thank you to the nurses and techs on the fifth floor of Inpatient Hospice at Ball Memorial Hospital for their skill, care, and compassion as well as Robin and Jim Box, with whom he lived and was given care for the past three years.
