Don was critically and importantly a counselor and sideline cheerleader for many of us boys and young men, as well as being a Scoutmaster. He treated me as a unique friend, and he didn't put himself above anyone, but he still had a gentle, caring impact. My first scout trip to Pelican Point was early in the morning when an earthquake hit SLC. We were Southbound in the station wagon with Chessy, the dog, as an honorary Scout with gas! He played the radio and sang along to "someone's knockin' at the door...do me a favor, open the door, and let him in..." I felt like he loved those lyrics and meant them for each of us Scouts. Another time, in my early teens, Don took me and a friend to Fred's Burger Chalet for a shake just to be personable and show he cares about us. He really helped get many of us to our Eagles, and Don was choice and unforgettable!

Don entered my life shortly after I met my now-wife. I remember how he referred to me as family even while I was still dating her! His photos entertained me and provided a wonderful introduction to the whole family and many if their hobbies. I especially love the one photo of a dog at the end of a pier (I wish I had the digital version).
I´ll remember Grandpa Don as a spunky man who loves his family with his photos and and leaves behind a meaningful legacy.
