Donald Ferguson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada from Mar. 4 to Mar. 11, 2026.
October 5, 1948 – February 28, 2026

Donald Kyle Ferguson, 77, passed away on February 28, 2026.

He was born on October 5, 1948, in Floydada, Texas, to William Samuel Ferguson and Billie

Jane (Whitaker) Bishop.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Clare Ferguson of Oklahoma City; his daughter, Amie

Henry and husband Gary of Lubbock, Texas; his son, Johnathan Ferguson and wife Cindy of

Allen, Texas; and stepsons Michael Rosenberg and wife Lisa of Oklahoma City, and David

Rosenberg of Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

He was a proud grandfather to Joshua Henry and wife Victoria, Christopher Henry, Lauren

Henry, David Ferguson, Katherine Ferguson, Emily Rosenberg, and Kathryn Rosenberg.

He is also survived by his sister, Vickie Coleman and husband Robert of Graham, Texas,

and his brother, Larry Bishop and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, along with five nieces and

three great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Ferguson.

Don spent many years in the financial services industry, working alongside his family in

their successful business. He was forward-thinking and constantly looking ahead, guided

by the belief captured in the words often attributed to Wayne Gretzky: "Skate to where the

puck is going, not where it has been." He had a natural instinct for anticipating change and

preparing for the future.

Beyond his professional life, Don deeply loved his family and took great joy in time spent

together. He enjoyed golfing, coaching, and trout fishing in Lake City, Colorado. A gifted

cook, Don delighted in preparing wonderful meals for those he loved. His kitchen was

always open, and his advice was always honest.

Deeply patriotic, Don loved America and the freedoms we enjoy in this country. In his Bible,

beside John 8:32, he underlined the words "make you free" and wrote in the margin, "The

Truth." That verse - "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" -

reflected both his faith and his enduring belief in true freedom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior

Project in his honor.

A small, private graveside ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Don will be laid

to rest at County Memorial Park Cemetery in Floydada, Texas.

Don's legacy lives on in the faith he held, the freedom he cherished, and the family he loved

so well.
