Donald Lynn Fernelius, age 83, passed away in his home in West Bountiful, UT on August 26, 2025.
Lynn was born on March 22, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT to Donald and Kathryn (Sorenson) Fernelius. He grew up in Salt Lake City, West Layton and Bountiful, UT where he graduated from Bountiful High School.
He immediately joined the military and served for 4 years in the Air Force. He was stationed in Germany, working on radar towers.
Upon his return, he started working at Rocky Mountain Bank Note where he met the love of his life, Tonya, in 1967. After many attempts to get Tonya to finally go on a date with him, they married in July 1968. He retired in 2004 at the age of 62.
Together, they lived in Woods Cross, UT for 5 years before building their forever home in West Bountiful, UT in 1973. They were blessed with 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Lynn loved to hunt, fish, anything outdoors. He loved to spend time at his cabin, that he worked so hard to build with the help of family and friends. He loved to tinker and build things. If he wasn't at the cabin, he was supporting all and every family event, including piano recitals to baseball games. He loved to crack jokes and make people laugh.
Lynn loved with his whole heart. He loved his family more than anything. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were honored to have the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on for generations to come, inspiring those around him with his kindheartedness, generosity and unforgettable spirit.
Lynn was preceded in death by his son, Cory; his parents, Don and Kathryn; his brother, Denny; his nephew, Jeff; his neice, Amy. Many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lynn leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Tonya; his sister in law, Sherri; his sons, Scott (Michelle), Michael, Taylor; his daughter, Jill (Conley); his grandchildren, Tara (Rupert), Jordan, Ashley, Brody, Thomas, Madalyn, Ryker, M'Kynzi (Evan), Cole, Kii and Karter; and his great grandchildren, Liam, Opal, Mason, Luka, Mia and Auggie.
