Hands down best professor I've ever had. Though you had to leave class early this semester, you still taught me the most valuable lessons I could have learned- Thank you for that. You will not be forgotten.

Good luck, Don, on the next leg of your journey. May you continue to motivate those whom you loved, and who loved you. We will miss your eye for talent. Namaste.

Not only my favorite professor from UAlbany, but a great friend. You taught me so much inside the classroom but more importantly about life in general. I can't thank you enough for that. You will be missed.

My condolences to the family of Donald Forst. The God of comfort will strengthen and fortify you. He promises "without fail to show you favor at the sound of your outcry; as soon as he hears it, he will actually answer you." Isaiah 30:19

A sly rascal and one of the great journalists of his generation, which will probably be remembered as the last generation of real print journalists. My 25 years at Newsday coincided with his two stints there, first as a Newsday managing editor and then as editor of N.Y. Newsday. I watched with amazement as he built the New York City edition into a great paper and watched in horror as the penny-pinchers of the L.A. Times-Mirror Corp. shut it down. The next spring, N.Y. Newsday won a Pulitzer Prize, too little and too late to save it.

Through this time rely on the strength and "peace of God" to be with you at this time, Phillipians 4:6, 7.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

One of my all time favorites...I'm sure there are very few he didn't leave some kind of indelible impression with. Who can forget that Pulitzer worthy Herald headline....Hinck Shrink Stinks! Don hired me as a reporter in 1979. Those were the most electric and fun two years of my 35 year career. He and his team (Ken Hartnett, Bob Sales) were great motivators, fearless thinkers and bold risk takers. They don't make 'em like that any longer.
