Donald Patrick Gallagher, a beloved resident of Maryville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 27th, 1938, in Maryville, Donald lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion for his family and community.
Donald was a graduate of Maryville High School and spent his life working as a farmer, a vocation that allowed him to remain deeply connected to his roots in Maryville. As a self-employed farmer, he found joy in the rhythms of the seasons, particularly enjoying raising cattle and the calving season. His love for the land was matched by his enthusiasm for hunting and trap shooting.
A man of varied interests, Donald was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs, often found cheering them on with great fervor. He had a keen mind for brain teasers and puzzles, and he loved playing pool. Donald had a sweet tooth for ice cream, especially when it was homemade, and he enjoyed the occasional visit to the casino. His greatest joy, however, came from watching his children play sports and spending time with his family.
Donald is survived by his loving sister, Gerry Ann Siever of Springfield, MO; his devoted sons, Daniel (Katrina) Gallagher of Smithville, MO, Douglas (Cecilia) Gallagher of Maryville, MO, Theodore (Sarah) Gallagher of Iowa City, IA, and Jared (Alexandra) Gallagher of Maryville, MO; and his cherished daughter, Sandra (Doug) Ruse of Mobile, AL. He was a proud grandfather to Laura (Keath) Coleman, Mitchell (Kellie) Gallagher, Adam (Kelly) Leslie, Megan Ruse, Whitney Ruse, Sheaney (Tony) Mueller, Linnessa Lemons, Jacob Lemons, Katelyn Gallagher, Ellen Gallagher, Emma Gallagher, Payton Johnson, Cleo Johnson, Samantha Johnson, and Lacy Gallagher. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Konnor, Kruz, Everett, Maggie, Nora, Joel, Ashton, and Aiden.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Edward Gallagher and Marie Emma Gallagher, his beloved wife, Ellen Gallagher, his great-grandchild, Atlas James Cummings, and his brother-in-law, Ron Siever.
A Rosary will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish in Maryville, MO, on Sunday, March 8th, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by a visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, March 9th, 2026, at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will include Mitch Gallagher, Jacob Lemons, Adam Leslie, Payton Johnson, Keath Coleman, and Phillip Stiens.
Arrangements are being handled by Bram Funeral Home. Donald's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church.
