Donald J. "Spyder" Genovese, Sr., 88 of Whitehall, PA, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, October 24, 2025, at his home in Whitehall, PA. Born April 5, 1937, in Northampton, PA, he was the son of the late John Genovese and the late Anna (Nederostek) Genovese. He was the husband of Marie (Frack) Genovese with whom he shared 56 years of marriage this July 12, 1969.

Donald was last employed as a laborer for the Whitehall Township Municipal Authority for 32 years before retiring in 2002. He was a long-time member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Northampton, where he also served as an usher for years. In his earlier years, he served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Northampton Fire Department and also the Whitehall-Cementon Fire Department. He was a former Coach with the Cementon Athletics Association, a 50-year member of the Shuffleboard League at the former Laurel Hotel, Cementon, PA. A bowler with the men's league at the former St. Joe's Sick and Beneficial Society, and a Charter member of the Tri-Boro Sportsman's Club, both of Northampton, PA. Donald was an avid Pennsylvania sports fan always cheering for his Eagles, Phillies, and Penn state Nittany Lion athletic teams.

Surviving along with his wife Marie is son, Donald J. Genovese, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Whitehall, PA; 2 grandchildren; Dawson and Kailyn and 4 step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, Ronald R. Genovese.

A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday October 27, 2025, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Assumption of the B.V.M. Cemetery, Northampton, PA.

Memorial Contributions: May be made in his memory to: Assumption B.V.M. Roman Catholic Church Memorial fund c/o the funeral home.
