Donald Gingerich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center on Jan. 27, 2026.
Donald Gingerich, age 100, passed away peacefully in his residence in Sun City, Arizona. Born and raised on the family farm in Rushmore Minnesota. Donald spent nearly all of his life dedicated to the land he loved. In 2019, he moved to Sun City, Arizona to be closer to his daughter, but his heart always remained tied to the farm.

Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Luella, and his second wife, Tena Janssen. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Moore (Terry) and Sheryl (Vicky); his grandsons, Chad Moore (Joann), Brent (Kyra), and Jon (Tanya); five great-grandchildren; and his extended family gained through his marriage to Tena.

Don served in the Army during World War II. A lifelong farmer, Donald continued helping on the farm until the remarkable age of 94. He found joy in all things agricultural and never lost his deep connection to farm life. In the early 1960s, when snowmobiling surged in popularity, Donald embraced the sport with enthusiasm. He and his daughter traveled to races in their motorhome, making countless memories along the way. Later in life, he and Tena explored the country together in their RV, traveling widely until he approached 90.

Donald will be remembered for his enduring work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and the pride he took in his family and his farm.

A service celebrating Donald's life will be held at a later date in Minnesota.
