Donald Edward Gray, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Yvonne Gray; cherished son of the late George Gray and Elsie Williams; devoted father of Richard Gray and Julia (David) Smith; loving grandfather of Madelyn and Reagan Smith; dear brother of Patricia Sparks, Lolly (Don) Burrows, Kathy Nyman and David Williams.
Donald lived a remarkable life defined by hard work, curiosity, and deep devotion to his family. He began his career in the airline industry with West Coast Airlines in the 1960s and went on to work for several airlines before retiring from Delta Airlines. A true aviation expert, he was also a private pilot for many years and embraced every opportunity to explore the world, traveling to every continent except Antarctica.
Donald was known for his sharp mind and love of trivia, but those who knew him best admired him most for his character. Despite facing adversity, he built a life that stood as a true success story—one marked by resilience, integrity, and determination.
He was married to his first wife, Janice Gray, for 51 years, sharing a lifetime of memories and family. In 2019, he married Yvonne, beginning a new chapter filled with companionship and care.
Above all, Donald was a devoted father who loved his family fiercely. His children saw him as the most impressive man they had ever known—a steady, capable presence who could build, fix, and create almost anything. He had a passion for renovating homes, often bringing new life to old spaces. In one of his proudest projects, he even built a second level onto the family home while raising his children.
Donald’s legacy is one of love, strength, and craftsmanship. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorials may be made in Donald's name to Glioblastoma Research Foundation.
