Donald Greer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Inc. - Springfield on Dec. 9, 2025.
Donald L. Greer, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Don devoted his life to hard work, integrity, and caring for those around him. As both an accountant and a farmer, he combined intellect with a deep appreciation for the land. Those who knew him admired not only his intelligence, but also the quiet wisdom he carried into every decision, conversation, and act of kindness. People often sought his advice, trusting his steady perspective and thoughtful judgment.

He was a devoted husband to Thelma Greer and a proud father to Julie Greer, Jennifer Beatty and her husband Bryan, and Erin Greer and his wife Kate. Don especially cherished his role as a grandfather. He loved and took great pride in his grandchildren-Lauren, Sam, Jack, and Ann Beatty, and Charlie, Mary, Lisa, and James Greer-finding profound joy in their growth, their questions, and their accomplishments.

One of his most treasured gifts to his family was the furniture he crafted as a talented woodworker. His favorite piece was a hand-made cradle for his oldest grandchild, a cradle that each grandchild would later sleep in-a symbol of his care, creativity, and devotion to family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather-and a loyal friend-Don leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, intelligence, and wisdom. His influence lives on in the family he cherished and in the many people whose lives he touched with insight and grace. Don trusted in God and faced the end of his life with peace.

A graveside service will be held at Spring River Cemetery in Verona, Missouri, on Friday, December 12, at 11:00 a.m.
