Donald Ray Hallman

Donald Ray Hallman, 78, of Arkansas City, KS died March 4, 2009, at his residence. Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, South Haven, KS. Pastor John Strazlin and Chaplin Vern Richerson will officiate. Friends may greet the family 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at the funeral home. Don was born November 6, 1930, in Hunnewell, KS to Roy B. and Juanita (Wilkinson) Hallman. He was reared and educated in Hunnewell graduating from Hunnewell High School. After high school Don served in the United States Marine Corps for three years. He then served in the National Guard for two years. Don served in the Korean War while in service. On February 2, 1992, he married Margaret Harbert in Arkansas City where the couple made their home. Don worked for John Morell Meat Packers until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Good Sam, and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of the home; daughter, Debbie Ferguson and husband Don of Marqeutte, KS; grandson Benjamin R. Ferguson and wife Christeena of Fort Riley, KS; two great granddaughters, Alexis and Cloey Ferguson; Step-sons, Alvin Harbert and wife Pat of Oklahoma City, OK; Chris Harbert and wife Kris; Charles Harbert and wife Kathy all of Arkansas City, KS; ten grandchildren and nine greatcrandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Danny Ray, Steve R.; sister, Mary Margaret; and brother, Gerald B. Hallman. A memorial has been established with the Hospice Care of Kansas.
