Donald Charles Hamilton was born on November 23, 1943, and departed this life for eternity on November 26, 2023. He was the youngest son born to Clarence Earl and Wille Foy Hamilton (Sanders). He was born in the small town of Andalusia, AL. Affectionately known as Charles to his family, which consisted of seven children of which five preceded him in death.

Don was a part of the first class that graduated from the new Carter G. Woodson high school in Andalusia in 1962. While there he was an excellent student and played baseball as a left-handed pitcher for the team. He also pitched with the Andalusia All-Stars baseball team.

After graduation, Don joined the United States Air Force and served for more than 28yrs, retiring in 1990 at the rank of Sr. Master Sargent. While serving, he spent time in many foreign countries such as Germany, Korea, Vietnam, and Japan. He also earned an associate degree in security while serving. He was a Security Police Officer.

Don’s last duty station was Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV and that’s where he decided to settle. A short time after retiring he was hired to work in security at Caesar’s Palace where he began as backstage security manager. Don met many famous celebrities and interacted with them. He eventually worked his way up to being the night shift security manager and was there over 15 years.

Don enjoyed reading, watching the Pittsburg Steelers, old westerns and listening to Sam Cook (especially his music with the Soul Stirrers), but most of all he loved playing golf and hanging out with his golfing buddies.

Don is survived by his younger sister Linda Jackson and her husband Robert, 3 nephews; Christopher Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, and Dwayne Marvin; 5 nieces; Debra Hamilton, Sandra Richards, Traci Hamilton, Jacqueline Marvin and Lenora Hamilton as well as several great nieces and nephews.
