Donald Handy, age 92, passed away April 4, 2023.
Donald was the beloved husband of Shirley Handy; loving father of Cheryl (Andreas) Zybell and James (Becky) Handy; devoted grandfather of Alyssa Zybell, Victoria Foster, Andrea (Kyle) Swartz, Sara (Noah) Ferson, Jeanette Handy and Eric Handy; proud great-grandfather of Taylor, Isaac, Evan, Theodore, Adam, and Charlize.
Don lived in Warren since 1941 and was a proud graduate of Warren High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a member of the 45th Infantry division and a talented trumpeter. Returning home from the Army he married his high-school sweetheart Shirley in 1953. Don worked at Michigan Bell for thirty years. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities and weekly attended worship and bible study. He loved his family and special gatherings in his back yard.
Visitation Tuesday, April 11, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Road, Warren, Michigan. Instate Wednesday, April 12, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 30003 Ryan Road, Warren, Michigan. Interment to follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
