Donald Harrison Obituary Donald M. Harrison, "Don", age 73, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Boston on July 19, 1952, Don was the cherished son of the late William R. and Barbara E. (Chambers) Harrison. He was raised in Wilmington as part of a large and loving family, one of seven siblings. Don graduated from Wilmington High School and went on to attend East Coast Aerotech, where he trained to become an aircraft mechanic; a skill that reflected his lifelong interest in how things worked.
In 1977, Don married Susan (Davey) Harrison; the couple spent some time in Colorado before returning to Wilmington to raise their two sons, Ryan and Justin. Don was a devoted and "hands-on" dad who rarely missed a school event, game; he always there to cheer his boys on with pride.
Don was a true entrepreneur who founded Harrisun Systems, a company specializing in solar energy solutions and solar panel installations. He took great pride in his work and valued the relationships he built with customers throughout the years.
Outside of work, Don enjoyed the simple things in life-cruising on his motorcycle, tending to his yard, and soaking in the beauty of Spring when the flowers came into bloom. His easygoing nature and playful sense of humor made him a joy to be around. He was known for his practical jokes and infectious laughter, earning him the title of "Fun Grampy" to his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Don will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan E. (Davey) Harrison; his sons, Ryan Harrison and his wife Richelle of California, and Justin Harrison of Wilmington; and his cherished granddaughters, Madelyn and Colette Harrison. He was a dear brother to Janet Harrison of West Newbury, the late William Harrison, Jr. & his wife Terri of Wilmington, Douglas Harrison and his wife Joanne of Newburyport, Debbie Harrison of Providence, RI, Pat Lawrenson and her husband Stephen, and Jamie Harrison, all of Wilmington. He was also a loving brother-in-law to the late Bryan and his wife Karen Davey of Wilmington, Chris and Sandra Davey of North Andover, Peter and Elaine Davey of Groveland, Paul Davey of Dunstable, and Joanne and Mark LaLiberte of Cary, NC. Don is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
