Donald "Don" Ray Hedrick, 81, beloved father, and grandfather, of Tolar, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, September 5, 2024, in his Tolar home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at a later date to be announced.
Don was born on November 8, 1942, in Kilgore, Texas to the late Jack and Margueritte Hedrick. He proudly served his country in the USAF. On June 10, 1966, Don married Paula Rose and together had 3 children, Thomas, Terry, and Angela. Don worked for Dupont Manufacturing for 36 years! Additionally, he was a sworn sheriff's deputy for Victoria County, Texas. Upon retiring from DuPont, Donald discovered a passion for teaching. He became an instructor at Victoria College and the East Texas Safety Council, where he shared his wealth of knowledge and experience. His final professional chapter was as a field superintendent at Golden Crescent Construction, where his leadership and work ethic were greatly valued.
Don was well liked by everyone and was affectionately known for his jokes and stories. He enjoyed woodworking, playing guitar, and fishing. Most of all, Don will be remembered for the loving affection he had for his family – particularly for his grandchildren. He lived life with enthusiasm, always maintaining a positive attitude and treating everyone he met with kindness and respect. His generosity and selflessness were boundless. His deep love for the Lord shone through in everything he did, serving as a true example of what it means to be a Man of God.
Don is survived by his children, Thomas and wife Irena Hedrick, Terry and wife Destiny Hedrick, and Angela and husband Allan Sklar; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Talia, Tiana, Hayden, Aubree, Ashlyn, Avery, Ainsley, PJ, Brittany, Allyson; his great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Hudson, and Briggs; and by his brother, Kenneth Hedrick. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Hedrick and by his brother, Ronnie Hedrick.
