Donald N. Heskett Sr., 75, of Byesville, passed away Saturday (September 6, 2025) at his home with his family by his side.
He was born December 26, 1949 in Cambridge, son of the late Raymond R. Heskett and Dorothy May (Steele) Heskett.
Donald was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. Later, Donald was an oil field worker for several years.
He was a member of the Byesville VFW.
He enjoyed wheeling and dealing in cars, listening to country music, and reading. He cherished the time he spent with his loving family, as well as with his dogs, Lucy and Kracker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Heskett and Nelson Heskett; a daughter, Virginia Heskett; three brothers, Richard, Jack, and Kevin; and two sisters, Catherine Casey and Janie Bell.
Donald is survived by his wife, Ida (Smith) Heskett, whom he married on October 17, 2022; two sons, Matthew (& Patty) Heskett of Cambridge and Tyler Heskett of Cambridge; three daughters, Megan (& Bill) Eltringham of Cambridge, Maria (& Greg) Oswald of Cumberland, and Katie Heskett of Coshocton; a brother, Larry (& Tammy) Heskett of Cambridge; a sister, Tina (& Tony) Hutchison of Zanesville; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday (September 11, 2025) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery at a later date, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
