Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laurel Oaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Dec. 4, 2025.
Donald W. Hill entered into eternal rest on Nov 25, 2025, while on a visit with family over the Thanksgiving holidays. Don was born on July 6, 1941, to Mitchell and Glendon Hill in Moulton, Alabama. His family soon relocated to the Dallas area where he lived for a few years and then they moved to the small Dallas suburb of Mesquite in the early 1950's. He was a graduate of Mesquite High School class of 1959 and attended UTA briefly before joining the U.S. Navy in 1961. During his naval career he served as an aviation electrician's mate in squadron VA-34, in Carrier Air Group 3 on several aircraft carriers from Cuba to the Mediterranean. Don was honorably discharged in 1963 and that same year, went to work for the Dallas Power and Light Company where he remained until his first retirement in 1992. In 1969 he married Sonja and were married for almost 50 years.
During this same period, Don completed his associate degree from Eastfield Community College in 1976 and later graduated with a B.A. in Computer Science from UTD in 1988. In 1999 he went to work for Hensly where he stayed until his second retirement in 2019 at the age of 79.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja, his father Mr. Mitchell C. Hill and his mother, Glendon Hill; his sisters Charlotte Bruke and Joy Weatherly. He is survived by his daughter Miosha and her husband, Chip; his son John and his wife, Sylvia; his son Mike and his wife Cindy; and grandchildren Lewis, Andie and husband Corey, Keelie and husband David, and Chett.
