Sunset ~ Donald Wayne Houston, 85, went home to be with our Lord Friday, November 28, 2025 in Sunset.
Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 5th, at Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs/Sunset with burial at Cumby Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport.
Donald was born on July 2, 1940 to Kennon James and Bessie Mae (Robbins) Houston in Loop, Texas. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Cape on June 9, 1960 in New Mexico. Donald spent several years working as a heavy equipment operator for Mayrock Materials, where he skillfully operated various types of machinery. His expertise contributed significantly to the success of numerous construction projects, and his dedication to safety and teamwork made him a valued member of the crew. Throughout his time there, Donald built lasting relationships with his colleagues and took great pride in his work. He was a beloved father, grandfather of 3 generations, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Ann Houston; his grandchildren, Joshua Cole Houston, Brittnay Michelle Zapata, and Caroline Faith Houston; his brothers, Randall Lee Houston and James Walter Houston; and his sister, Mildred Hagan.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Donna Robinson and her husband Dennis, Donnie Houston and his wife Glenna, Darrell Houston and his wife Eva, David Houston and wife Brenda, Diane Weigart and her husband Ausbie, Danny Houston and his wife Karen, and Dale Houston and his wife Racheal; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
