HUX

With grateful hearts and deep love, we celebrate the remarkable life of Donald Eugene Hux, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, farmer, mentor, and friend, who passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born May 9, 1930, Donald was a son of John William Hux and Henrietta “Etta” Christena (Rader) Hux. A proud graduate of Midway High School, he carried the values of hard work, integrity, and perseverance with him throughout his life. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and later continued his service in the National Guard for six years. His commitment to duty and community reflected the strength of his character.

Farming was not simply his occupation – it was his calling. As a lifelong livestock and grain farmer, Donald found his greatest joy in working the land, tending his animals, and watching each season’s harvest come to fruition. He especially loved tractor pulling and was a proud and loyal John Deere man through and through. The sight of green equipment in the fields was a symbol of both his passion and his dedication.

For 72 beautiful years, he shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife, Norma (Vallery) Hux. Together they built not only a home, but a legacy – raising their family with faith, determination, and unwavering love. He was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, faithfully supporting them in every endeavor, celebration and milestone. Above all else, he was an avid family man whose steady presence and quiet encouragement shaped generations.

Donald was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church. He believed in investing in the next generation and generously gave his time and wisdom to young people pursuing agriculture. As a dedicated 4-H advisor and a steadfast supporter of the Madison Plains FFA program – especially during harvest season – he mentored and encouraged countless students to pursue farming. His guidance, example, and belief in their potential made a lasting difference in many lives.

He will be remembered for his strong hands, his steady wisdom, his deep love of the land, and his even deeper love for his family. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the students he mentored, and the family he so proudly raised.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Norma; daughters Deborah (John) Griffith and Dawn Hux; grandchildren: Natalie (Nathan) Dorn, Kristen (Philip) Guess, Lindsay Stroup, Benjamin (Ashley) Stroup, Wesley Richardson, Sydney Richardson, Joshua (Kelli) Richardson. He also is survived by great-grandchildren: Jozie, Rider, and Quinn Dorn, Kenley, Audrey, and Ellie Guess, Caleb and Madison Skunza, Landon Olexa, Benjamin, Anna, Leah, and Hunter Stroup, Jackie, Gianni, and Romeo Richardson, Caiden Evangelista, Damian and Dominick Daniels, Ronin and Carter Richardson, plus one on the way. Donald will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Ruth Milstead along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Etta; siblings: Mary Mechling, Leonard Hux, Martha Leppla, Velma Welsh, Mildred Hughes, John William Hux, Harold Hux, Esther Anderson, Earl Hux, Helen Miller, and Norma Jean Phillips.

The Hux family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140. A heartfelt funeral service will commence at 12:30 PM with Pastor Ralph Hux officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Range Township Cemetery, Sedalia.

Memorials in Donald’s name are encouraged to be sent to benefit the Madison Plains FFA, 800 Linson Road, London, Ohio 43140.
