Donald Ishaug

Donald Ishaug, age 88, passed away on June 19, 2025 at his home on Lake Lizzie.

A funeral service will be held at North Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to the service.

Donald was born January 17, 1937, in his parents' home in rural Pelican Rapids to Henry and Melia (Johnson) Ishaug. He attended elementary school in Norwegian Grove township and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1955. He was baptized and confirmed at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he would later serve on the church council for many years.

On May 16, 1959, he married the love of his life and lifelong partner, Ila Mae Hough, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville. Together they raised their four children in and around Pelican Rapids and Barnesville. Don and Ila moved to Moorhead for the latter years of Don's 40-year career with Kost Bothers, where he had the opportunity to meet and work with many great people in the local construction, sand, gravel and concrete businesses. In 2000 they built what would become their beloved home on Lake Lizzie, where together they enjoyed a well-earned retirement.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ila; daughter Kimberley; sons Keith (Sarah), Kurt (Kimberli) and Kevin (Tania); and their cherished grandchildren Jade, Jenna, Madison, Sydney, Peyton, Aidan, Ethan and Logan.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marion Bakken.
