Donald G. Johnsen currently of Middleboro, MA, formerly of Brockton and Somerville, son of the late Edith Hebb Johnsen and Leslie Johnsen, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at the young age of 76 on May 1, 2023.
Don was an old-school mechanic that never went to work. He always went to play. His motto was "work smart, not hard".
Don leaves behind his loving companion of 26 years, Sandra (Sandi) Cloutier, his son Donald (Donnie) Johnsen, Jr. of Brockton, Adam Johnsen and his companion LeeAnn Reed of Brockton, and his daughter Elaine Johnsen and her significant other Lafayette (Buddy) Hargrove of Fairburn, GA, his children by "marriage" Alisa Bacheikov and her husband Ian of Davie, FL and Daniel Cloutier and his wife Amanda of Carver. He also leaves his brother Ronald Johnsen and his wife Janet of Venice, FL, his ex-wife Donna Johnsen of Brockton, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren along with extended family and countless friends and acquaintances.
He loved doing renovations on their 1890's house with Sandi by his side – no challenge too big or too small. As soon as he was done, he was already looking for something else to tear apart. His other interests were car shows, going to the theater for their annual December birthday present to each other, Nascar, walking the waterfront area of Plymouth, and of course his beloved 1969 Chevy C-10 pick-up truck. He was quite hard of hearing, but for some reason the word "car" never escaped him. If anyone unknowingly got into a conversation with Don about cars, they might as well grab a chair. On that subject, the man could talk (and talk) (and talk).
He went to bed each night saying he was the luckiest guy in the world and frequently repeated those words during daylight hours. Don didn't have much in the way of possessions, but he truly believed he had everything a man could want.
All are cordially invited to the Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 98 Bedford St Bridgewater on Fri. May 5th. A visitation period will be held from 10am to 11am followed by a service beginning at 11am. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park following the service.
