Donald Marvin Kunch, 77, of Waterloo, died Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Waterloo. He was born on October 30, 1945, in
Chariton, IA, the son of John "Jack" and Marjorie Taylor Kunch. Don attended school in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School with the class of 1964. He was a self-employed welder and was fascinated with the Native American lifestyle.
Don loved his family. Morning check-ins and nightly calls were precious for all. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his artwork. He carved using antlers and wood and made Native American flutes, walking sticks, canes, and jewelry. Every piece Don carved was as unique as he was. He will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his daughter Robin (Ricky) Booth of Ridgeway, MO; stepdaughter Christina (Bruce) Anderson of Waterloo; grandsons Caleb and Mason Booth, Demarieo Mohorn, and Andrew Anderson; brothers Dwayne of Las Vegas, Richard (Ida) of
Chariton, IA, and Robert (Barbara) of Thompson Falls, MT; sisters Diane (Buck) Irving of Chariton and Kathy Lockhard of Afton, IA; brother-in-law Ron Sutton of Henderson, NC; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Cheryl Damme, son Rob Kunch, sister Donna Sutton, brother-in-law Bert Lockard, and sister-in-law Ruth Ann Kunch.
The family will greet friends at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
