Donald Irvin Lashuay, 94, of Midland, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at his home with family by his side. He was born November 17, 1930 in Midland, son of the late John Nicholas and Bertha Leona (Long) Lashuay. Don grew up on a farm along the Pine River, east of Gordonville, where they raised many chickens. This was all just part of the family business, as his father owned the Midland Hatchery on Main Street. Don attended grade school in Gordonville and graduated from High School in Midland. He served in the United States Army and also the National Guard. Don spent most of his working career with the Dow Chemical Company, retiring after over 35 years as a foreman for phenol production.

On August 19, 1956, he married the former Ruth Hassen, and the two began their family together. Throughout the years, Don was very active. He served as a Boy Scout leader when his sons were young and helped serve his community as he worked the Lee Township elections. Don always had a love of nature which was evident by his beautiful gardens and blueberry patches. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Don was a notable pilot, owning his own plane and flying well into his 80's. As he grew older and physical activity no longer held the same joy, Don found peace in sitting in his backyard watching life along the Chippewa River. More than anything, he loved his family and time he was able to spend with them.

Don is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth Lashuay; daughter, Sue (Hershel) Stacy; sons, Tim Lashuay, Steve (Kim) Lashuay, and Rod (Lisa) Lashuay; daughters-in-law, Richelle Lashuay and Roseanne Lashuay; brother, Marvin (Audrey) Lashuay; 22 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Jerry, Donald, and Nicholas; 6 brothers; and 6 sisters.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to all current and past caregivers. Words will never cover our heartfelt thanks.

Funeral services for Don will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Floyd Church of God, 1015 West Chippewa River Road, with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating. His family will receive friends at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, on Thursday evening from 5 - 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
