Donald Lowery Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2025.
Lawrenceville - Donald Hobert Lowery, 80, of Lawrenceville, GA died November 16, 2025. Held close by his family in the comfort of his home, he left his earthly body and returned home fully restored.

Don was born on July 13, 1945, in Newark, Ohio to the late John & Edna (Salyer) Lowery. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 50-year member of the International Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union. His career in the masonry industry influenced the shape of the Atlanta skyline. He was a proud member of the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard.

He was our captain and our coach, our scholar and our biggest fan. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather & fruncle. He was a Harley riding jack-of-all-trades & ready with a witty line for any circumstance. He was jovial and loving, honest and fair. He delighted in being mistaken for Santa - and even embraced it with a twinkle in his eye.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Shere (Tate) Lowery & his precious grandson Andrew Berry. He is survived by his 3 daughters & their husbands: Donita & Michael Hardy, Stephanie & John Dees, Amanda & John Flatt; 11 grandchildren: John & Lacey Flatt, Heather Berry, Ashley Berry & Adam Means, Erica & Michael Sheppard, Jessica Dean, Stephan & Heather Dean, Joshua Berry, Danielle Berry, Savannah Dees, Amanda & James Higginbotham, Rachel Hardy, Tess Hardy; 14 great grandchildren: James Flatt, Olivia Berry, Sadie Woodard, Zayne Curry, Lilly Flatt, Sophia Berry, Cullen Means, Finley Sheppard, Hobert Berry, Rosie Miraglia, Luke Means, Riley Dean, Aubrey Sheppard, Blakely Dean, his brother John 'Slatz' Lowery & sister Debby Kirk, his nieces & nephews and many friends that became family.

The family will receive visitors Friday, November 21 from 12:00 - 2:00, with the funeral to follow at Bill Head Funeral Homes & Crematory Duluth Chapel (770)476-2535. Burial will be on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
