Donald "Don" McLean Sr.

Donald (Don) I. McLean Sr. was born July 9, 1946 in Oleans, New York and passed peacefully at the age of 79 on October 16, 2025 in Canandaigua, NY. Donald is predeceased by his mother and father, Irving McLean & Elaine Barnhart; brothers, Daryl & Roy McLean; and grandson, Ramell Moore. Donald was a beloved husband of near 50 years to Gloria (Belcher) McLean; father to two sons and one step-daughter, Scott McLean, Donald McLean Jr., & Kim Haynes; grandfather to Destiny & Dezirae, and Wade & Tory, and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his four sisters, Joyce, Terry, Marcia, & Raberta.

Donald served in the US Army from 12/14/1965 to 12/13/1971, during the Vietnam War. Donald was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars, as well as a medal for Expert (Rifle). He was also a "sharp shooter." In his time after service he began finding interest in auto mechanics, making a lifelong career out of it. Shortly after marrying his wife Gloria, he became a lifelong member at VFW Post 8495 (Fairport, NY), where they played on bowling teams and attended many tournaments. Donald also enjoyed golfing and playing card games with buddies. He also made himself a known member at Finger Lakes Casino, and absolutely loved spending time with his family.

Our "papa" was like a glue that held our family together. He always made sure everyone was taken care of and always went above and beyond for those he loved. Donald will be deeply and greatly missed by all that knew his outgoing, loving and stubborn personality.
