Worcester- Donald Thomas Moran, most loved Husband, Father, Pop-Pop , 84, died on July 10, 2022 after a heroic battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Don was born on May 21, 1938, the son of the late Mae (Fleming) and Edward Moran, He lived most of his life on Paradox Drive…it will be his forever home! Don is survived by his devoted wife & best friend of 51 years Mary (Gearin), who was the most unbelievable caregiver that anyone could ever ask for! He leaves his devoted children, Erin and Mark Shapiro of Shrewsbury, Kara Moran-Hill and Jason Hill of Bristol, Ct, Brendan and Amanda Moran of Worcester, Terrence and Blair Moran of Shrewsbury, seven granddaughters Lauren & McKenzie Aparo, Kasey & Morgan Shapiro, Kailyn Moran, His twins Hadley & Aislyn Moran and two step-grandsons Michael and Nicholas Hill and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was a devout Catholic and daily communicant of Christ the King, prior to his illness, Sunday Sodality at Holy Cross and First Friday Club of Worcester.
He was a proud graduate of Assumption College and Clark University, so proud, that in 1975 he joined the staff as a Professor and Anna Maria later on. Donald was a proud employee of the Massachusetts Probation Department, starting as a Worcester Probation Officer and rising to the Supervisor of the Superior Court Probation retiring in 2006.
Don was the most amazing provider for his family of 6, his free minutes were filled cheering on his kids in their events or spoiling his kids with Red Sox Games, Holy Cross Athletics, Celtics Games and any event at the Centrum. Some of our most fond family memories were on the Cape.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Mae and Edward Moran, His Brother Rev Edward J. Moran. Father-in-law Daniel Gearin. His family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Gary Blanchard for his compassion and support in the last 3 years of Don’s illness.
Visiting Hours are Wednesday, July 13 from 4 to7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 14 at 10:30am in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.orgTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
