Another Rett Angel has earned her wings.

Lisa was an incredibly special lady. She lived, loved, and touched hearts wherever she went. She resided in a group home provided by "Homeward Bound Inc." named "Fountain Lane" with her housemates and Besties. They were inseparable and loved one another like family. Fountain Lane is incredibly special, and the love in that home is evident from the time you walk in the door. The staff members work faithfully and tirelessly to care for our loved ones' needs with deep affection and love.
Lisa had Rett Syndrome, a neurological condition she was born with, but it never stopped her from living a life worthy of the beautiful and kind Soul she truly was. She spent her days attending "Lifeworks," a nonprofit organization in the Twin Cities that worked with Lisa to bring out her best each day. She created many beautiful art pieces, along with amazing paintings, and made lasting friendships throughout the years. Lisa also spent several summers going camping through a program called "Camp Friendship - True Friends" in Annandale. She really enjoyed her adventures in the wilderness!
In October of 2023, Lisa's last painting "Shades of Life" was awarded first prize during the "Art Abilities on Display Gallery" at the Ridgedale Library. Her painting was used as the backdrop for the Art Shows invitation. Her family and friend, Jane came with her to celebrate this great honor. It was an event that gave her loved ones a precious memory to remember how truly special Lisa was. She was a gifted artist who left us beautiful paintings to cherish and enjoy.
Even though Lisa was non-verbal, she taught us unconditional love and inclusion. She taught her family how to advocate for those in our community with disabilities so they will enjoy full lives and feel accepted in the community. She was a quiet little warrior who fought hard to overcome her body's limitations. But in the end, she won her battle with grace and love. Lisa will be dearly missed.
Special thanks to all the wonderful staff members at Fountain Lane- Homeward Bound Inc., Lifeworks, Accord, Hennepin County Social Workers, Lifespark Hospice, Attorney Mary Ferris Jensen, The Courage Center, The International Rett Syndrome Organization, Dr, Swan, Living Word Christian Center, Redeemer Lutheran Church Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis, Jewish Family and Children Service of Minneapolis for their compassion and support offered to her family, along with all her family and friends for their love, kindness and prayers throughout Lisa's life. Lisa's family thanks all of you for the love and caring you gave our special girl while she made her journey of life and beyond to her Heavenly home.
