Don Mraz, 81, Algoma, passed away January 18, 2022. He left his earthly life to be with God and his family in Heaven to wait for us when we come. He was born December 19, 1940 to Esther and Richard Mraz. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He graduated from Algoma High School 1958.
Don served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962.
He was United in marriage on January 8, 1966 to Carol Schell.
He and his wife Carol were the owner and operators of Frost Valley Orchard. He was a master electrician and retired in 2002. He was a member of IBEW local 158, a lifetime member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of VFW veterans of foreign wars (Korea) Post 15051, and a lifetime member of the Am Vets. During his working career he helped build the Seattle space needle, worked on the renovation of the Green Bay Packer stadium, and Renovation of the Charmin paper company.
He was a mentor and great friend to many, he had very strong faith. He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was an avid hunter, and took any chance he could to hunt, leading him to once hunt pheasant while serving in Korea in an open field that turned out to be a live minefield.
Don will be greatly missed and is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol, his four children, Dawn (Tim) Hytry, Joy (Jeff) Lecomte, Shawn (Julie) Mraz, Traci (Jason) Wits, and grandchildren Brock, Heather, Mccoy, Lauren and Charles.
He is further survived by his siblings, Jim (Val) Mraz, Diane (Jan) Koebke, Ken (Lynn) Mraz, Linda (David Bice) and Rick and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sue, sister-in-law Debbie, niece Jacqueline and nephews Max and Chris.
Family and friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM until the time of the Prayer Service at 7:00 PM and burial will take place, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Maplewood.
