Donald Pollinger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2024.
Donald Louis Pollinger, aged 86, passed away on September 24, 2024, in Washington, Missouri.

He and his twin brother, Ron, were born on May 26, 1938, and spent their childhood in St. Louis, Missouri.

Don graduated from Lindbergh High School in St. Louis and graduated from Greenville College, earning Master's degrees from Indiana State University and University of Missouri.

He was the first LHS graduate to return and teach in the Lindbergh School District, retiring after 31 years inspiring countless students with his passion for earth science.

Don was a man of many interests, including fishing, hunting, Cardinal baseball and having coffee at the White Rose Café with his friends. He cherished spending time with his family above all.

He was a good and generous friend and yearly donned a familiar red suit around the holiday season to share his good spirit with many.

He is survived by his wife, Dee Pollinger; daughters Donna Cregger (Dennis), Tonya Wurtz (Jeff), and Dena Matthews; grandchildren Aaron Cregger (Erin), Tyler Cregger, Courtney Pepmueller, Lacey Wurtz, Cody Matthews, and Dylan Matthews (Heather); great-grandchildren Carson, Bailey, Everett, Riley, Nala, Leo, Luna, Peyton, and Ty; and sisters-in-law Shirley Pollinger and Jean Woll. Don also leaves behind many cherished relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Ronald Pollinger, and his parents Dorette and Louis Pollinger.

A private family service will be held to honor Don's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your favorite charity, honoring Don's generous spirit.
