Donald Eugene Puckett, 73, of Columbus GA passed away on June 22, 2025 at Columbus Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 27, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
Donald was born in Ft. Benning, GA to Charlie and Katherine (Kay) Puckett. He lived in Strong Mississippi during his childhood years. After receiving his GED he attended Blue Mountain College and received a BS in Bible/Biblical Studies upon graduation in 1985. After graduation he moved to Columbus GA and worked for the Columbus Baptist Association as coordinator of the food and clothing services to the community.
In 1996 he began working for Second Harvest Food Bank as the receptionist; became a volunteer Chaplain with Columbus Hospice and visited hospice patients in nursing homes; then graduated from Troy State University with a MS degree in Counseling & Human Development.
Donald shared his faith in the lord with everyone he met so they could have the opportunity to experience God's love for themselves.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Katherine (Kay) Puckett, brother Charles (Bud) Stafford, sister Charlotte Liss and brother-in-law John Liss.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan B. Puckett, sister Beverly Robinson (Huntersville NC), niece Amber (Frankie) Cascio (Huntersville NC), great niece Emma Grace Cascio (Huntersville NC), aunt Gwendolyn Ott (Cedar Bluff MS), cousin Greg Ott (Tupelo MS) sister-in-law Joann Bryan (Columbus GA), brother-in-law James W Hunter (Columbus GA), sister-in-law Eva Johnson (Ellaville GA), brother-in-law Bobby (Shirley) Bryan (Tazewell GA), sister-in-law Gail (Bobby) Smith (Tazewell GA) and numerous nieces and nephews.
