Donald A. Schmidt, Sr. 77 year old resident of Pine River formerly of Little Falls, passed away on Saturday, December 28 at Essentia Hospital in Brainerd. A grave side service will be held on Friday, January 17 at 2:00 P.M. at the Minnesota State Veterans north of Little Falls.
Donald Arthur Schmidt, Sr. was born on January 28, 1947 to the late Pete and Luella (Nelson) Schmidt. He grew up in Little Falls with his siblings, Rocky, Robert, Richard, Roger, Gerald, Coreen. Donald attended and graduated from Little Falls Community High School. After high school, he served his Country. Donald received his honorable discharge and returned to Minnesota. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and received his electrical engineering diploma. Donald worked as an electrician in Apple Valley from 1980 until 1985, Andover from 1985 until 1995, Corcoran from 1995 until 1999. He moved to Little Falls, where he resided from 1999-2014. He moved to Pine River in 2014 where he resided until his death. Donald enjoyed golfing, boating, snowmobiling, playing cribbage, dominoes, monopoly and was very mechanically inclined. Donald loved his travels to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. He was a member of the local union #292 electricians’ union.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Laura Marie Collette Sheire, Donald, "DJ" (Lindy) Schmidt and their children, Rylan and Harper; special friend, Karon Witt and her children, Laura (Steve) Wright and their children, Priscilla and Porsche and Paul Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Luella (Nelson) Schmidt; siblings, Rocky, Robert, Richard, Gerald, Roger and Coreen.
