Donald Shupert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care - Pembroke Pines Chapel on Mar. 24, 2026.
Donald C Shupert, also known as Shupdog, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend peacefully passed away at home on March 16 2026. He was 75 years old.

Don was born in Dayton , Ohio, on October 2 1950. His parents were Howard Shupert and Shirley Futschek. He earned a high school degree and studied sometimes at college before moving to Miami Beach where he worked with a lot of passion and dedication as a lifeguard for the city of Miami Beach. He loved looking for the security of people going to the beach and swim. He also was the first person to respond on December 19 2005 when a Chalks Ocean Airway Flight going to Bimini unfortunately crashed not far from his lifeguard tower into the Government Cut channel. He jumped on his surfboard and tried to recover still surviving people, but to no avail.

His first wife, Maureen Hannan gave him four children: Donald M Shupert, Shannon Shupert who passed away on February 18 2008, Meagan E Shupert and Chelsea C Shupert who are surviving him. The passing of Shannon left him with a big scar. He would never be the same anymore.

On June 16 2006 he married his second wife, Martine G Heureux who is surviving him as well. He had two brothers: David and Ronald. They both deceased before him. Ronald was his identical twin brother.

He was also the grand father of Mariah and Elizabeth, daughters of Meagan, and the step grandfather of Maeva, 15, Connor, 9 and Scarlett, 7 who all loved him tremendously.

A celebration of his beautiful life will take place on Wednesday, April 1st at 11:00 am at the Boyd-Panciera funeral home located 1600 North University Drive, Pembroke Pines Fl 33024 and will be followed by his burial at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Ft Lauderdale located 2001 SW 4th Avenue, Ft Lauderdale Fl 33315.
