**In Loving Memory of

Donald Jack Slack** July 26, 1936 - February 14, 2026

---

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Donald Jack Slack, who left us peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 14, 2026. For 89½ years, Don brought laughter, honor, kindness, and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on July 26, 1936, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, New York, to Donald and Leona Slack. Growing up and attending school in New York, Don especially cherished the experience of playing trumpet in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade with his NY high school marching band.

In 1954, Don graduated from Covina Union High School, in Covina, CA and began serving in the United States Naval Reserve until 1962. He went on to attend Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA, where he earned an associate in arts degree, before continuing his education and graduating from the University of California, Davis, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy in 1959.

In 1954, Don met the love of his life, Jane Packard, on a blind date to the Senior Prom. That first meeting blossomed into a lifetime of true companionship, and the two were married on August 2, 1958. At the time of his passing, Don and Jane had celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Don spent much of his adult life in the Western United States including California, Idaho, and Oregon, building a life grounded in family, service, and integrity. After college, Don began his agricultural career in Hanford, CA, and later moved to Los Banos, where he and Jane began raising their three children. In 1971, FMC Corporation transferred the family to Boise, Idaho, where the children grew up and attended school. Another transfer in 1984 brought them to Keizer, Oregon. Don continued his agricultural career with Western Farm Service at their Hopmere branch, serving as Customer Service Manager until his retirement in December 2002. Even in retirement, Don continued working seasonally for Western Farm Service and later Nutrien, staying active in the field he loved until the age of 80.

Don was a longtime member of Keizer Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he faithfully served in multiple leadership roles, including Deacon, Board Chairman, and

Trustee. His dedication to his church community was a central and meaningful part of his life.

Don is survived by his loving and caring wife, Jane; son Craig (Debrah) of Meridian, ID, son Keith (Stephanie) of Seattle, WA, daughter Lynne (Rich) of Monroe, WA; his grandsons, Erik (Jannalyn) and Alex; and his brother Malcolm (Nancy).

In recognition of Don's 20+ years of volunteer service alongside his church family, the family welcomes donations in his name to the Keizer Community Food Bank, 4505 River Road N, Keizer, Oregon 97303.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate nurses and staff of First Call Home Health Care and Willamette Vital Health Hospice Care for their dedicated support and care for Don.

We welcome you to join the family in honoring Don's life at a memorial service on Saturday, March 14th at 1:00pm at Keizer Christian Church, 6945 Wheatland Rd N, Keizer, OR 97303.
