Donald Eugene Slade

Donald Eugene Slade was born the sixth child of the late Dewey Hawkins Slade and Daisy Ireland-Shaw Slade.

Donald gained his wings on March 3, 2026, following several years of illness.

Donald was born April 8, 1938, in Alamance County and lived in the Clover Garden Community.

He attended Elon Elementary and Graham High in North Carolina.

Donald loved his Family, Westerns, Family Reunions, The Atlanta Braves baseball team, UNC- Tarheel, and Western High School Football team. He played softball for many years with Joe Shopwell, Clover Garden and Elon Community League. Donald also stepped out years later and had his own girls' softball teams called Barco's, Damon's Angels, and Candlelight.

Donald worked for Burlington Industries earlier in life then he decided to change his career to work with JK Burton's Concrete Company: Donald worked for several local concrete companies and retired from Chandler Concrete in Burlington NC.

Donald leaves to cherish his wife and caregiver of 42 years Yvette Tinnin Slade of the home, one son Emanuel Eugene "Chunky" Slade of Burlington, NC; one grandson Emmanuel Donnell " Eman" Slade of Graham, NC; two great grandson, Mason Thomas of Rocky Mountain, NC and Emmanuel Donnell "EJ" of Graham, NC, sister Evelyn Slade Watkins of Elon, NC, Mother in Law Annie Tinnin of Burlington ,NC; two God-sons, Corey Kingsberry of Raleigh ,NC, and Tracy Watlington of Burlington, NC; four God-daughters, Taccara Torain of Mebane, NC; Asya Van Norden of West Haven CT; Lakeshia Baldwin and Tracy Wade both of Burlington, NC; four Sister -in laws: Lisa Haith, Tanya Haith, Virginia Slade, and Michelle Daye all of Burlington, NC; Eugene "Bo" Stanfield Best Friends of Burlington, NC; Donald was a man with few words but his love for his family reached way beyond, Donald stepped in as a father after the death of his brother William Edward Slade Jr., to his girls Catherine Slade Simmons, Berenda Slade, and Donna Kay Slade Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Gertrude Slade Johnson; Verlina Slade Johnson; Elton "Pook" Slade; William Edward Slade Sr; James "Jack" Slade; and Otis Leon Slade. five brothers in-law, Curtis Tinnin, Anthony Hurdle, George Johnson, Albert Johnson and Rev. Jerry Watkins; two nephews, Varondia Tinnin and Brad
