Donald “Don” Ray Smith, 73, of Marion, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at Amorem Hospice in Valdese.
Don was born in McDowell County, NC on September 17, 1952, to the late Paul Robert Smith and Lowuna Lail Smith. He was married to his beloved wife of 52 years, Pamela Jo McGee Smith. Don served his country proudly with the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict era and was a member of American Legion Post 1981. He attended West Court Baptist Church and was a loyal and devoted family man. He loved fishing and working outdoors. Most of all, Don loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Pam Smith; a daughter, Kimberly Beck (John); a son, Toby Smith (Melinda); a sister, Mary Davis (Charles); a brother, Robert Smith (Brenda); four grandchildren, Dawson Beck (Kayla), Carrington Smith, Taylor Beck, and Braden Beck (Jenna); and two great grandchildren, Kash James Beck and Kohen Ray Beck.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
