Donald Snyder Obituary

Snyder, Donald J. WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. Donald J. Snyder passed away on September 7, 2021, at his home, with all of his family by his side. Donald was born on July 10, 1938, in Troy, to John and Elizabeth (Allen) Snyder, and was a graduate of St. Peter's Grade School, LaSalle Institute of Troy, Siena College, and Albany Law School. He also received an arts degree from Herkimer County Community College, and was an honorary alum of Utica College. On June 6, 1964, Donald married Mary Theresa Higgins, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Brady) Higgins in Cohoes. Donald served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1963 to 1965. After his honorable discharge he began his law practice with Anthony Cosentino in West Winfield, N.Y., which is now Cosentino, Snyder and Quinn. He served on multiple school, church, community and professional groups. Donald is survived by his wife, Theresa; his daughter, Graceanne (Patrick) Quinn; his son, John H. (Renee Carlson) Snyder; his daughter, Elizabeth (Philip) Fortino; and daughter, Mary (Patrick) Radel. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Joseph D., Matthew G. and John T. Quinn, Sarah C., Robert C., Caitlin M. and Donald J. Snyder, Thomas A. and Christopher J. Fortino, Luke P., Mark D. and John P. Radel. Donald was further survived by his sister, Jeannine (James Mannix); his brothers, William (Sharon) and Gerard (Byron); and sister-in-law, Janet. He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Donald was predeceased by his parents, his father and mother-in-law; his sister, Elizabeth; his brother, John; his brother-in-law, Leo; his nieces, Carolyn, Joann and Michelle; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and John Miller; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathaleen and Albert Stiglmeier. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. Military Honors will be offered in Church at the conclusion of the Mass. There are no public calling hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation in Donald's name to The 21 Club, of CNY, Inc., Rosa Mystica House of Prayer, Thea Bowman House, Hospice and Palliative Care of New Hartford, N.Y., or a charity of choice. I am sorry to read of Don's passing. He was the unofficial social director of our Albany Law School Class of 1963. Many of us had nicknames; his was "Vladimir Cool", based in part because he had gone to the USSR, and part because he was just a cool guy
