Donald Lee Stansbury Jr, 76, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed from this life on April 18, 2025 at his home.
Please join his family for a time of fellowship and storytelling from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, April 22 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.
Don, the oldest of 5 siblings, was born on July 26, 1948 to parents Donald “Dutch” Lee Stansbury and Betty Ann Story. He spent his life among friends and family living in the Riverside neighborhood where he grew up and made his home. His two sons, Robert and Timothy Stansbury were born and raised there as well.
Many people knew Don from his work as a carpet layer. He worked for some time as an independent contractor, but spent the majority of his career at Walden Carpets.
Don could be ornery and stubborn, a trait he passed on. He had a strong work ethic and cared deeply for every person in his wide circle. He enjoyed spending time at his parent's lake cabin near Madison. He also loved to travel, including Arizona, Las Vegas, and Florida and said Key West was his favorite destination. Known as the bargain hunter of the family, Don could find people a deal on anything they were looking for. More recently, he was known to enjoy a peaceful afternoon watching old westerns.
Left behind to share his legacy are his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, extended family members and lifelong friends.
He is reunited with his parents, first wife Karen, special friend Andrea, extended family members and good friends.
