Moody Funeral Service & Crematory - Mount AiryMr. Donald Reid Steele, age 93, of Clemmons, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. He was born on December 13, 1932, in Surry County, to the late Porter Weldon and Lucy Stanley Steele. Don, as known by many retired from Uarco Business Equipment, but his heart was always at the Steele Family Farm which has been in his family for over 100 years. After his retirement, he and his wife Betty, of 60 years, spent much of their time at the farm when they weren’t traveling. Don also loved being with his precious granddaughter, Michaela. They enjoyed gardening, fishing and just swinging on the front porch. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Betty Evans Steele; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Steele and Rebekah; precious granddaughter, Michaela Steele; nieces, Lisa Steele Bowling, Lynn Steele Marcin and Denny and four nephews, Jackson Bowling, James Bowling, Michael Marcin, and Jeffrey Marcin. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, James Steele and Jean. A celebration of life service for Don will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Double Creek Church of Christ, Dobson, NC, with the Rev. John Elmore and Pastor Brenda Buffalo officiating. The family will receive friends following the celebration of life in the fellowship hall of the church. The family would like to thank Trellis Supportive Care for their kind and supportive care and to the wonderful staff at Clemmons Village II. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Double Creek Church of Christ, 674 Double Creek Road, Dobson, NC 27017, or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Steele family.
