Donald E. Stonefield

Donald "Stoney" Stonefield, 89 years old, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away peacefully at his farm near St. Peter's, Indiana on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025.

Don was a 1955 graduate of Greenhills High School, where he was a 3-sport athlete and hall of famer. He served in the U.S. Navy for 7 years, 5 years aboard the ship, Orion. Upon returning, Don was employed by Cincinnati Bell as a technician until he retired after a successful career. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Catholic Church for 55 years, where he spent several years coaching CYO softball. He enjoyed tending his farm and animals, and was an avid supporter of his children's and grandchildren's athletic and other ambitions. He was a great friend and neighbor, and easy to spot in his classic Dodge pick-up. Don was tough, hard-working, passionate, deeply loving, and modest. He was absolutely devoted to his beloved wife of 58 years, Diane, and their family. He was proud to see his passion for athletics and care for animals passed on to his family. His family remembers with great respect and gratitude the practical lessons they've learned from his sure guidance and true humility. Don encouraged his loved ones to "play with heart." Put your heart into everything you do, don't worry about keeping up with others, and you will succeed.

Don will be deeply missed by his wife, Diane Schlake Stonefield; son Don (Gena) Stonefield, daughter Christie (Steve) Andres, son Dennis (Hilary) Stonefield; his grandchildren Spencer Powell, Dee (Ben) Kleier, Payton (Liz) Stonefield, Josie (Pierce) Banbury, Bryce Stonefield, Anna (Tyler) Koelling, Brooke Stonefield, Allie Andres, Gwen Stonefield, Rhys Stonefield; and great-grandchildren Jude Kleier, Cecilia Kleier, Stevie Banbury, and Louisa Kleier.

Mass of Christian Burial for Don will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 11:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Peter's, IN. A graveside service will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to Loving Hearts Hospice and will be accepted prior to the Mass or can be mailed to Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home.
