l have the fondest of memories of Mr. Terry. He taught me everything I needed to know in my job while I was stationed at Dam Neck and also in my difficulties with my private life. He was a very good man.

Mrs Terry and family,

I was one of the fortunate young sailors to meet Donald Ray at Dam Neck when I joined the Navy in 1981. He was so kind to me and we used to be able to ask him questions about anything. I loved seeing his smile every day and I remember he had been given a ink pen that had an ice cream cone on it and I used to tease him about eating the ice cream. We would see him at the Navy Exchange for lunch when I would go over with a friend and we used to tease him about the chicken. There were so many seagulls we knew they had to be the "chicken" we were eating.

One of the fondest memories I had with Donald Ray was knowing that in his Army days he met my father and remembered him. That tickled my father before he passed and I am grateful for that. The Army looks big but it is really a small world.

I know he is in a better place and I look forward to seeing him again one day.
