Donald was such a strong strategic supporter of the Univeristy of Louisville and especially the J.B. Speed School of Engineering and STEM programs for students. His generosity will always be remembered and the seeds he has sown will benefit many generations to come. Sincerely, Teresa Leezer, J.B. Speed School of Engineering.

I met Don when I was working at Neighborhood House in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville. He was the most kind, wise, and helpful man! Initially, he was my liaison with his friend's foundation. Then, the connections kept weaving. Our agency ended up serendipitously with a photograph Don had taken viewing Louisville from the West end (our end of the river - it seemed a most unique view for a photo). I continued to find his connections all over Louisville. More recently, I was comforted and often smiled as I was lost in thoughts, staring at his photography at a Norton hospital as I spent days on end with a friend going through cancer care. I always love seeing his name on his beautiful, generous work. My life and our world are better for Don's impact.

I did not meet Don until it was towards the end of his life here on earth. However, my short time with him will always be a treasure to remember. I ask Don what with all the thousands of photos he shot, was there a favorite. His face lit up like a 100 watt bulb. He shared a photo with me of the Louisville skyline. He pointed out the steeple of the Cathedral and the bottle of Old Forester in the background. He ask me to think about the two imagines and their meaning on our society.
