Donald Wiesner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wulf-Ast Mortuary & Cremations, LLC - Garden Plain on Dec. 15, 2025.
Donald Gregory (Don or Greg - however you knew him) Wiesner, age 65, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on July 7, 1960, in Wichita at Wesley Hospital. Greg attended Goddard Elementary and St. Margaret Mary before graduating from Bishop Carroll High School in 1978. After high school, Greg started working for Big Cheese Pizza in Wichita and when an opportunity opened, moved to Abilene, TX opening a handful of Big Cheese Pizza's in Abilene and the Midland Odessa area. Greg met and married Rowan Norvel and had two children. Though Greg and Rowan separated they remained close friends over the years. Greg found his calling as a nurse, focusing on the elderly. After moving back to Wichita, Greg worked in the Harry Hines Hospice unit at St. Francis Hospital and then joined the Robert Dole VA Hospital - Hospice Unit until his retirement. Greg loved his work and he offered comfort and dignity to patients and their families during some of life's most difficult moments. His commitment to easing the suffering of others left a lasting impact on those he served. Greg is now resting peacefully waiting to meet his Father in Heaven. Greg enjoyed pottery, sketching, photography, fishing and camping, embracing the peace and simplicity of nature whenever he could. Greg was preceded in death by his son, Donald Gregory Wiesner Jr.; his mother, Jenny Lynn Wiesner; paternal grandparents Richard and Ola Wiesner; and maternal grandparents Sam and Maggie McDonald. Greg's is survived by his daughter, Robin Lynn Wiesner of Stephensville, Texas; his father, Donald Wiesner and wife Peggy of Spring, Texas; his sisters Tracy Friend and Kim Vickers (Robert), both of Moscow Mills, Missouri; his brother Patrick Wiesner of Wichita, Kansas and step-brother David (Kathy) Simoneaux of Colorado Springs, three nieces and one granddaughter.

A heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, KS for their support over the last 6 months. Sammantha and Denise are True angels!

I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Don at the Robert J Dole VA. He was a great nurse, kind person and his patients/families loved him. I always enjoyed working with him. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers to all of the family and friends who have known him over the years! I may not have met some of the family but I feel like I know you the way Don would talk about you! He was so proud of his family.
