Donald Allan Williams, "Don", 63, of Oklahoma City, was returned to his heavenly home, quickly and unexpectedly on Oct 7, 2022, following a valiant seven-year battle with lung disease.
His devotion to his wife and family and his firm and unwavering faith in Jesus, supported him in his courageous health struggles. We are assured that he is now fully healed and rejoicing with his savior, mother, aunt, and nephew in Heaven. We are also persuaded that he is not "resting" in heaven but actively praying, rejoicing, proclaiming the good news and protecting his loved ones while being with his beloved Jesus.
Don was born in Washington District of Columbia, on December 5, 1958, to Don R. Williams and Linda Mae Curtin Williams. He attended Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He earned his aircraft mechanics license and was a skilled aircraft mechanic, supervisor, and mentor. He worked at AAR, in Oklahoma City, until he medically retired in 2015.
Don was married to Jeannie Stanfill and together they had four active boys. They later divorced. After six years of courtship, Don married the love of his life, Kelly Schlueter Worner in May 2016. Together, they shared a love for the Lord and for aviation. They enjoyed many wonderful motorcycle rides, road trips to Arizona, Arkansas, Missouri, and Mississippi. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, as well as many adventures and cherished memories. Don and Kelly particularly enjoyed wintering in their Mesa, AZ home.
Don had a great passion for the Lord and for reaching those who did not know of his Lord and Savior. His signature line was, "who's your boss?" Then he proceeded to say, "mine's a Jewish carpenter, do you know him?" Daily for the last few years, Don created original Facebook posts and artwork, with bible verses and uplifting messages, that were posted to friends and then reposted by other people on Facebook. He also had a passion for helping the homeless and became known among the homeless community as "the sock guy". He gave away truckloads of socks and other items to the homeless in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Don will always be remembered for his unrelenting faith in the Lord, and his testimony and passionate witnessing for Jesus. He was a man who knew no strangers and was generous with his finances, possessions, and time. He provided unconditional love, encouragement, and support to all. He was a man who was interested in the spiritual growth and wellbeing of his family and friends. He deeply loved his family, friends, God's Word, and Jesus.
Don was adventurous and enjoyed skydiving and motorcycling. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially if a meal was shared and a movie was watched with them. He also enjoyed listening to Christian music and watching various YouTube pastors.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly, his sons, Joey, David, Chris, Daniel, Jeramy, and Jacob, sister Janet Matos, cousins, Karen, Mary, Chaz, Larry Jr, Nancy and Carol, sister in laws, Colleen Schlueter, Debbie Shoults, and Angela Pierce. Don is also survived by four grandsons. Additionally, he is survived by Pastor Bill (Debbie) Reynolds, a man that Don considered as a father as well as an early and extraordinary witness for Jesus in Don's life. He is survived by other family and a host of friends, too numerous to list.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Don R. Williams, and Linda Williams Bicknese, his aunt, Joanne Jones, his nephew, Matt Williams, his cousin Larry Jones, his father-in-law, Curt Schlueter, and his mother in laws, Judy Schlueter and Georgia Stanfill.
The celebration of Don's life will be held at 11 am, Oct 15, 2022, at Messiah Lutheran Church, located at 3600 NW Expressway, 73112, in Oklahoma City, with Pastor Myron Harms officiating. Lunch and visitation to follow the service at the church. The funeral service can also be viewed online, at the Facebook page, I heart Messiah OKC.
The family wishes to thank Scott Davis, Pastor Harms, Joe Lock, Ron Kimpel and Rosa Sanchez for helping Kelly to take care of Don and his needs at their home.
