Donna Burton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Inc. - Columbus on Feb. 11, 2026.
Donna F. Burton, a cherished soul known for her patient spirit and keen intellect, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 84 surrounded by her loved ones. Donna leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will always be treasured by family and friends. Donna was born in Bartholomew County Indiana to Fred Guthrie and Faustina Woods Guthrie Sims. Donna loved working with her hands. She could often be found with a sewing needle or crochet hook in hand, creating beautiful pieces that were as much a testament to her patience as they were to her artistic ability. Donna's hobbies were a reflection of her personality. She was an avid puzzle solver, a testament to her persistent and methodical approach to challenges. Her love for playing cards and dominoes was well-known among her friends and family, who would frequently gather around the table to enjoy her competitive yet cheerful spirit. These game nights were filled with laughter and camaraderie, and Donna was always at the heart of the joy they created. Her legacy is not only in the tangible works she left behind but also in the intangible impact she had on those around her. She is survived by her former husband and close friend, John A. Burton; her three children, Victor N. Burton, Bettina Blankman, and Tracie Lea Hinds; her four grandchildren, Aaron Burton, Jessica Hinds, Bradley Hinds, and Kennedy Blankman; and two great grandchildren, Piper Hinds and Brody Hinds. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Guthrie, her sister, Patsy Stephens, and her grandson, Justin Lee Smith. A funeral will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 26, 2025 at Jewell Rittman with Pastor Wes Jones officiating. Calling hours will be from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home or directly to the Hospice Center. Burial will take place at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery next to her parents.
