Donna Jean Combs was born on April 8, 1947 to Clarence and Bernice Smith. She grew up in Ethridge, Montana, and later, Shelby Montana. She married the love of her life, John Combs on July 3, 1966, in Cutbank, Montana. Together, they had two beautiful boys, Corey, and Philip.

Donna and John worked and lived in Wyoming and later on in Livingston, Montana until 1975. Near Etheridge, they shared a farm together with Donna’s brother, Galen, and sister-in-law, Pat. They moved to Conrad in 1982. Donna had several jobs throughout her life, most notably she worked for many years as a receptionist for a dentist’s office. Donna had many hobbies and interests throughout her life. She was an avid crocheter and knitter, and she spent a lot of her later years crocheting and knitting as a pastime. In her earlier years, Donna loved art. She loved to paint, and draw, and her love of everything colorful was apparent throughout her entire life. The love Donna had for the mountains was impeccable. One of her favorite things to do was to go camping up at Cave Mountain with her family. Donna loved all children, but she showed that she loved being a grandmother to her two grandchildren, that was her favorite job of all.

Donna stuck out in a crowd due to her bright and bubbly personality. Those who knew Donna knew she would be the first person to crack a joke to make the room feel inviting. She would welcome new people in her life with open arms, no matter who you were. Donna loved the Lord with all her heart, and she was always uplifting and encouraging others, despite her struggles with diabetes and other health conditions for most of her life. She was very active in her church, and loved ministering to people. She was a planter of many seeds.

Donna passed away on December 30, 2024. Donna is preceded in death by mother Bernice Smith and father Clarence Smith. Survivors include brother Galen Smith, husband John Combs, sons Corey (Heidi) Combs and Philip (Cary) Combs, and grandchildren Brenna Combs and Hunter Combs.

Services will be Friday, January 10, at 10:00 am at New Life Community Church in Conrad.
